A vertical stabilizer is a primary structure in most cases mounted vertically to the aircraft’s rear fuselage and its main function is to reduce aerodynamic side slip and provide directional stability. The Rudder is attached to the aircraft structure along with the horizontal tailplane, together forming the aircraft’s empennage.
